ANSI/ISEA (105-2016)
Directive 89/686/EEC on personal protective equipment
New ANSI cut scores will feature an “A” in front of the scores
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released a new edition of the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard -2016. The changes include new classification levels, which include a new scale to determine the ANSI cut score and a revised method for testing gloves to the standard.
The new ANSI standard features nine cut levels that reduce the gaps between each level and better defines protection levels for the cut-resistant gloves and sleeves with the highest gram scores.
ANSI/ISEA 105: Main Changes (2016)
The majority of the proposed changes involve cut resistance testing and classification.
Recommended changes include:
- Using a single testing method for more reliable ratings overall
- More classification levels for increased accuracy in test results and safety
- Addition of a needle stick puncture test for an increased level of protection against puncture threats
